We love our students and want to see them flourish in their spirits, minds, and bodies. We hope you will find this page useful for health updates related to our community.

coronavirus response

current status—IN PERSON LEARNING

In order to welcome students to our campus, we have instituted numerous safety precautions. Some of these are detailed below:

  • Students will be surveyed for COVID symptoms. If they have any symptoms will be sent home.

  • Bathrooms are regularly disinfected.

  • Outside lunch area is cleaned in between lunches.

  • Students will wash their hands frequently throughout the day.

  • Sanitizer is available in all classrooms as well as the office.

  • Classrooms are all disinfected at the end of the day by teachers and regularly by a janitorial company.

  • When a student shows signs of a COVID symptom, unless explained by a physician’s note, they are immediately removed from the classroom and are “quarantined” in our nurses station, evaluated by a St. Abes staff member, and wait for parents to pick them up.

If your child is ill…

Please do your part to keep our school safe and healthy this year. Please err on the side of caution and keep your child home, even if they have mild symptoms of illness. Our staff is committed to the same standards to protect your children.

St. Abraham’s Classical Christian Academy School Student Health Policy

Students exhibiting any of the following symptoms must be 72 hours symptom free before returning to school.

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • Sore throat

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

Even with a negative COVID-19 test, if the student still has symptoms, the parent or guardian must alert the school office and wait for the student to be symptom free before returning to school.

If a student or faculty member tests positive for COVID-19, parents in that grade level will be notified and the positive case will be quarantined.  The following are the quarantine recommendations for students for exposures as required in K-12 indoor settings. These are adapted from the CDC K-12 guidance and CDC definition of a close contact.

1. When students in any school setting in which they are supervised by school staff (including indoor or outdoor school settings), unvaccinated students who are close contacts (more than 15 minutes over a 24-hour period within 0-6 feet) may undergo a modified quarantine as follows. They may continue to attend school for in-person instruction if they:

a. Are asymptomatic;
b. Undergo additional testing during quarantine

For those who have been exposed to a sick person who may or may not have COVID-19, or for those exposed to one who has tested positive, a St. Abe’s staff member will conduct a series of questions to determine the risk and make a judgement on whether the person in question should quarantine and/or isolate from the school community. Key to the judgment criteria are if they are asymptomatic and have a negative COVID-19 test.

Students with allergy symptoms associated with a known allergy may return to school with a physician's note submitted to the school office. If it is a chronic condition, the physician's note will stand for only the allergy symptom(s) indicated by the physician. Symptoms that the student develops in addition to those cleared by the physician must be treated as a new symptom in accordance with our health policy. Please ask the physician to carefully detail which symptom(s) this covers. Parents/ guardians must continue to monitor their student’s allergy symptoms, and keep them home if they suspect symptoms are not allergy related.

Please submit all Student Health Policy related communications via email to tonya.redman@stabrahams.com

What happens if there is a case of COVID-19 at school?

If a case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in a student or staff member, all parents will be notified in that affected grade and the test-positive case will be quarantined. Additional protocol of potential quarantine may be enforced on a case by case basis. Other measures will be exercised to secure a healthy environment and reduce potential spread of infection.
